Artist's Statement

I paint the Southern landscape as I experience it—quiet, luminous, rural, sometimes wild, and deeply familiar. Working primarily in oils, both en plein air and in the studio, I am drawn to fleeting light, seasonal change, and the everyday beauty found in gardens, fields, and country roads. My impressionistic approach allows me to suggest rather than describe, inviting the viewer to slow down and notice atmosphere, memory, and place.

Much of my work is rooted in rural South Georgia, where I live and paint. The gardens, cotton fields, front porches, and winding paths and roads that appear in my paintings are not only subjects, but part of my daily life. Through loose brushwork and layered color, I hope to capture the feeling of being present in these spaces—and to share the quiet sense of home they hold for me.
