Artist's Statement

My work is about my response to my environment, my influences and those around me with whom I interact every day. I paint life around me with a subtle touch and by focusing on light, color and value, try to succeed in bringing the viewer “in to my world.” My subjects could be a beautiful Southern sunrise, a marshy seascape along the Golden Isles or a soft representation of a friend. I seek to capture not just the heart of what is in front of me, but also the emotions of those who will view it. And so it has become my philosophy: the more I create for others, the more truths I discover for myself.
