Why Commission a Portrait?
Walk into just about any place: a business, government building, university or library or a private home in any part of the world, and you will likely see portraits painted by artists hanging somewhere on the walls.
People like to celebrate important people in their lives by commissioning an artist to paint their portraits. And even when the subject is a child, family member or even a beloved family pet the portraits are often considered to be among the most important pictures there.
Individuals, families, organizations and institutions have long considered portraits to be symbols of honor, position, tradition, and history. A portrait is not just a depiction of the subject’s appearance but also that person’s personality as interpreted by the artist, the process of which requires great many, many hours of labor.
The nicest part of a portrait, however, is the fact that despite we live in such a modern, rapidly changing world, a fine portrait is a timeless symbol of the person or animal captured that can be cherished for a lifetime.
Portraits are also a wonderful legacy. Commissioning a portrait of one’s self is a great way to show others you care about them. It can be a very heartfelt gift to your loved ones to remember you by. For a hard-earned business person or volunteer, it can be a record of someone’s life and accomplishments that will be admired by generations to come.
Prices for portrait commissions are available from the artist upon request.
