"Best Friends"
Last week I woke up around 1:30 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep. Of course what does an artist do when she can't sleep.. she paints! It is actually a really spectacular time to paint. No one is up, the house is quiet (except for my cats) and it is a wonderful time to soak in the stillness. A perfect time, no interruptions.
I found a sweet photo of my little girl and our dog.
As I began to sketch, I began to smile. It is very heartfelt thing when you can feel your soul pouring into your work. I suppose it struck a chord with others because viewers felt that emotion too when I later posted the work in progress.
The painting, half begun was simple. It sold before the sun came up. ((Smile))
I finished the painting later that weekend and was ecstatic when I was able to hand it to my patron the next Monday.
It is truly a blessing when we (artists) put part of ourselves into our works and are able to convey the feelings we desperately seek to capture. It is an even greater joy to know that feeling can be shared between ourselves and our patrons through those works.
"Best Friends," Pastel on Paper, 9" x 12".
