“Back to the Farm" - This 30 Days Challenge Theme
This January - the Challenge is on
I am so excited to be working on a new theme in January for my Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge.
This January Challenge theme is “Back to the Farm.” This theme encompasses the wonderful, romantic spirit of these beautiful, old barns and farms that grace our red dirt roads and highways. Already a favorite of mine, I plan to meet this challenge by painting in a variety of media and change up my style a bit. I might add some whimsy, some playfulness. This biannual challenge is really a time of self-reflection for me as an artist. I genuinely try to strive to push beyond my comfort zone. My style may be a little more spontaneous and looser this go-round. A little more abstract even.
About the Theme
I want to find the old buildings that are barely holding on. The crumbling, overgrown-with-weeds packhouses. The leaning more than ever lean-tos. The ones with peeling paint and shifting chimneys. What is their story? What is their legacy? Are livestock grazing about these last remaining wooden ghosts? Wild poultry darting in and around the old granary? Maybe the only residents are a flock of mourning doves. Follow me as I retell these stories with each stroke.
I always welcome suggestions and ideas. If you have one or know of a beautiful old structure you think I need to check out, please feel free to email me at the Contact page of my website.
Happy New Year!
Jennifer
