Egret in Paradise
This painting started out as a reference photo of the water lily pond at Paradise Lakes.
And, as much as I'm a fan of overcast days, the original photo was just a little bit too much green and gray for my taste. I decided to brighten it up a bit with a bluer sky and clouds. I felt like it still needed something else, so I added two trees in the foreground with taller grass. Lastly, I found myself wanting a little bit of life added to it, so I brought in an egret. I see them often when I go to this area to paint.
This painting was just as much in my imagination as it was from the photo, so it was a good exercise in pushing my creativity.
