The Blue Jay
This chirpy little fellow is happily surrounded by a mass of green and gold leaves. He flits around our dogwood tree all Spring and Summer. He and his mate have nested there.
I painted him this November when I was longing for Spring and decided to paint a series of songbirds. The songbirds all sold very well and the only one left is my little Jay. Maybe Blue Jays get a bad rap. They are noisy and according to one buyer at an art show, “… are downright mean birds.” I don’t mind if the general consensus of blue jays is not in favor of these feisty feathered friends of mine, I’ll keep painting them.
And this one can hang on my wall instead.
Happy Spring my friends!
