"Harvest Still Life," 16' x 20" Pastel on Panel With the fall weather finally upon us I couldn't resist painting a still-life from my trip to the pumpkin patch. Thrown in the mix were a few gourds, my antique farmhouse pitcher full of sunflowers, a scattering of twigs heavy with berries, a Granny Smith apple, and some beautiful, huge maple leaves I'd collected from a nearby tree.   I haven't painted in pastels in awhile. This 8" x 10" plein air painting, “View of Main Street, Tifton” was created on location and then finished in the studio.  My traveling pochade box and I set out again for a trip downtown. On a rare Saturday I found myself between commissioned artwork set out to dry and an opportunity to paint for myself. I seem to find myself downtown whenever I have the time to paint. Hi friend, Did you wonder where I went? My writing has taken a slight hiatus as I recovered from an injury last winter (high ankle sprain and torn achilles ligaments). I have continued to paint, yes, but my progress was slightly impeded by the slower pace of recovery. Because of my recovery time, this blog was moved to the back burner.  Now, I am fully healed and back to business!  New items: I created an online school, EaselShare, at the beginning of the year and I am happy to say it has been very successful.
